Creating New Cantonese Characters (Mettle Type 風骨體)

 

These 2 characters is an experimental act taken under a concept of "every Chinese/Cantonese spoken word should come with an appropriate Chinese character".

Top: the original meaning of  "即係 (zik1 hai6)" in Cantonese is "the meaning is...", it's more or less similar to English "Well..." in daily usage. But people (mostly Hong Kong people) usually speak it very fast and sound like "啫係 (ze1-hai6)", and sometimes when people speaking extremely fast, it will sound like a single syllable with no character to represent it, that's why I try to create a character for this and it's sound should be "zehai6".

Bottom: In Hong Kong, it's very normal to call a baby "BB仔 (BB zai2)", no matter it's a boy or girl. Hong Kong people like to mixing both Chinese and English in their daily dialogue, it's because of the traditional Cantonese usage mixed with English impact under British colonisation. The phase "BB仔" is developed under this situation by taken 2 "B" out from English word "baby". and mixed with "仔" (means little kids). I tried to create a new character to replace "BB" so that the whole phase can by written out all in Chinese characters.  The last phase is from mainland China, originally is "牛B", means "that's great".
